In 2004, Transped ventured into the Chinese market by establishing our first office in Xiamen. This marked the beginning of a transformative journey in one of the most dynamic economic landscapes in the world. Transped China has evolved from a modest team into a powerhouse in international logistics, celebrating two decades of exceptional service and growth.

Xiamen: the beginning of Transped in China

Xiamen is a vital port city on the southeast coast of China, facing Taiwan. With its deep-water ports, extensive maritime links and well-established infrastructure, Xiamen ranks as a major gateway for international trade in the region. Economically, it is one of the most developed cities in Fujian Province, with robust industries in technology, manufacturing and exports.

Xiamen’s strategic location and thriving industrial sectors make it an ideal starting point for Transped’s operations in China.

Historically, Xiamen was one of the four original Special Economic Zones opened to foreign investment and economic development in the early 1980s. This status triggered rapid growth and transformed it into a center for high-tech industries. Today, it continues to attract significant foreign investment and is known for its progressive business environment.

Main Goods and Commercial Flow

Transped China has established a strong export service specializing in a variety of goods that meet the needs of a wide range of markets. The export of electronic products is important, taking advantage of China’s advanced manufacturing capacity in this sector. We also ship clothing and apparel from China ranging from luxury fashion items to everyday wear, catering to a diverse clientele. Accessory equipment for various industries and construction materials, essential for infrastructure projects around the world, are also part of the service catalog of our offices in China.

When it comes to imports, Transped China places emphasis on quality and variety, importing foods and beverages ranging from gourmet products to everyday essentials. It serves the Chinese market of wine lovers by importing quality wines, and responds to demand from the country’s booming real estate sector by bringing in marble and granite blocks, which are used in both construction and decoration. Transped China plays a crucial role in building luxury infrastructure, such as the Tefang Portman Seven Stars Bay Hotel & Resort, importing marble blocks from Portugal and France. Another example would be Transped’s collaboration in the development of the Taikang building in Beijing, facilitating the import of construction materials from Spain.

From a modest beginning in Xiamen to becoming a significant player in China’s logistics sector, Transped has demonstrated what is possible with vision, leadership and a commitment to serving customers with integrity and innovation.

Expansion and Strategic Growth

In 2007, success in Xiamen prompted us to expand our presence to Shanghai, China’s economic giant. This new office aimed to serve the market in eastern China and the Yangtze Valley, serving cities such as Nanjing, Hefei, Nanchang and Wuhan. The Shanghai office reflected the company’s commitment to adapting and responding to the diverse needs of its clientele.

In 2017, expanding its territorial coverage, we opened another office in Qingdao to serve the northern regions of China. This office supports significant trade activities through major ports such as Qingdao, Tianjin and Dalian.

Between 2016 and 2023, Transped China experienced significant growth in the volume of TEUS transported, rising from 9,000 TEUS in 2016 to 25,000 TEUS (unit of containers) in 2023, reflecting robust development in its transportation operations.

Using Strategic Ports

The strategic utilization of major ports and feeders has been crucial in Transped’s operations. The Xiamen office coordinates extensively with ports in southern China such as Shenzhen and Guangzhou, while the Shanghai office connects with Ningbo and ports along the Yangtze Valley. The Qingdao office takes advantage of northern ports such as Tianjin and Dalian, optimizing logistics routes for efficiency and profitability.

Leadership and Innovation

A significant milestone in the history of Transped China was belonging to the most prestigious networks of logistics agents and operators, being chosen as the best logistics operator in Asia. With all this, we have gained invaluable resources and support, facilitating our expansion and improving our operational capabilities worldwide. Collaboration within this network has allowed us to offer more refined and extensive logistics solutions to our clients.
